Dollars 4 Scholars is a youth scholarship club that gets parents and students started early in securing college funding.  Why not make the process easy so your student can identify scholarships and win money for college. Club features include assistance with finding scholarships, exclusive access to scholarship and grant databases, and accountability to help your student to stay on track with application submissions.

 

This club meets on Wednesdays.  Session times for this club are 5pm (Gr 9-12) and 6:15pm (Gr 3-8).

Creative Coding w/ Python (Gr 3-8)

Creative Coding lets students create interactive projects in Python. Our unique drag-to-text toolkit guides students through text-based coding, while engaging them with sprites and animations. Students use Python to build projects through structured lessons, then modify their code to create custom projects.

 

This course is taught on Sundays.  Session times for this course are 2pm and 3:15pm.

COURSES AND CLUBS

Web Design (Gr 6-12)

This is a project-based course that teaches students how to build their own web pages. Students will learn the languages HTML and CSS, and will create their own live homepages to serve as portfolios of their creations. Students will finish this course with tangible, professional, mobile responsive websites. No prior programming experience is required, but students should be comfortable using a mouse, keyboard, and web browser.

 

This course is taught on Saturdays. Session time for this course is 11:45am.

Mobile App Development (Gr 2-8)

Students will learn to program by creating fun apps that work on computers and gadgets like iPads and Android tablets. The experience starts with lots of guidance, first showing learners exactly what to type, then quickly encouraging them to modify and expand their apps by typing in new commands. No prior programming experience is required, but students should be comfortable using a mouse, keyboard, and web browser.

 

This course is taught on Saturdays. Session times for this course are 9:15am and 10:30am.

This course teaches the foundations of computer science and basic programming, with an emphasis on helping students develop logical thinking and problem solving skills. Once students complete the course, they will have learned material equivalent to a semester college introductory course in Computer Science and be able to program in JavaScript. No prior programming experience is required, but students should be comfortable using a mouse, keyboard, and web browser.

 

This course is taught on Saturdays. Session time for this course is 1pm.

Programming w/ Javascript (Gr 6-12)

STEM Clubs are a powerful and enjoyable way to engage young people with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects. They ignite an interest in STEM subjects and provide a platform to extend young people's learning. Most importantly, they are fun and exciting, allowing all involved to explore STEM subjects in innovative and inventive ways outside the classroom.

 

Engineering Adventures encourages students to be problem-solvers and critical thinkers using hands-on activities that are both fun and challenging. The goal is to increase critical thinking skills of each student through hands-on projects and challenges.

 

This club meets on Sundays. Session time for this club is 4:30pm.
